The children have used their skills to recreate the image of, The Great Wave, by the Japanese artist Hokusai.

The artists work is part of our class reader, ‘ Kensuke’s Kingdom.

Firstly they sketched the image and then mixed colours and applied paint to their image. Some great detail and all enjoyed this activity. Some of the images will be displayed in class.

Inspired by the illustrations in our focussed book for National Book Day, we chose one illustration to recreate. The focus was the use of water colour to make marks and add texture and shade.
