Find half of a shape
Today we progressed our learning to find half of various different shapes. We used our knowledge of how to half a square to help us investigate whether other shapes could be halved. We now know that if a shape can be halved, it must have 2 pieces that are EQUAL in size. We were curious to learn that some shapes could be halved just one way and others had multiple ways that they could be halved.
Finding 1/2 - Practical work
Today we were interested to find out how many different ways there were to cut a slice of bread in half. We were challenged to half the bread in a different way to the person sat next to us and were curious to find out that there were 4 ways to cut a square in half.
