Floating and Sinking
Today we had our curiosity sparked when we had the opportunity to work with a real life scientist who worked the Canal and River Trust. She talked to us about floating and sinking and helped us to conduct an experiment to find out if our predictions were right. We now know that although an object is heavy, it can be made to float if it is in the right shape.
Name the object and material
To begin our new unit on Materials and Their Properties, we explored a range of real life objects and worked to sort them according to the material that they were made from. We can distinguish between an object and the material that it is made from and can group items together.
