Mission Statement and Aims
We are a loving, caring, distinctively Christian family, providing an excellent education in a safe, happy environment, where every individual is valued as a child of God.
Our school motto is:
'More than I am'
Tale Of The Starfish
An old man, walking on the beach at dawn, noticed a young man ahead of him picking starfish and flinging them into the sea. Catching up with the youth, he asked what he was doing. 'The starfish will die if they are still on the beach when the sun toasts them with its mid-morning heat,' came the answer.
'But the beach goes on for miles, and there are millions of starfish,' countered the old man. 'How can your effort make any difference?'
The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it to safety in the waves. 'It makes a difference to this one,' he said.
The aims of the curriculum of the school are to extend the children's knowledge of themselves and the world around them, to develop their skills and their ideas as individuals and to help them to relate to others.
Every pupil should have access to equality of opportunity and the individual's worth should be recognised. Each child should aim to reach his or her potential.
The school will try to create an environment which focuses on individual need, interest and concern with pupils working collaboratively. All children should develop a joy of learning and see this as a life-long process.
The school aims to promote its role in the community through its participation in church and community events, initiating local projects, and through its relationship with parents and parishioners.
Where opportunities arise, pupils, staff and governors will seek to extend a welcome to any who come within the scope of their responsibilities or commitment and also reach out to those beyond to build bridges and to maximise both educational and cultural opportunities for pupils.
