Safeguarding

Safeguarding in our school:

Medlar with Wesham C of E School fully recognises the contribution we can make to protect children from harm and to support and promote the welfare of all children who are pupils at our school.  Safeguarding we believe applies to all stakeholders; this includes pupils, staff, parents, governors, volunteers, placement students and visitors.

Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility.

If you have an immediate concern for a child's safety, contact the police on 999 and/or Children's Social Care on 0300 123 6720.

Operation Encompass

The purpose of Operation Encompass  is to safeguard and support children who have been involved in a domestic abuse incident. Following an incident at home, children will often arrive at school distressed, upset and unprepared for the day.

Operation Encompass has been developed so that if one of our children has been involved, heard or witnessed a domestic incident the designated safeguarding leads will have been informed by the following day. This helps us give prompt support for the child involved.

Encompass lead for school is Mrs Panther (Headteacher).

Community Based Early Help and Family Help:

At our school, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of every child and family. Community Based Early Help and Family Help services provide practical advice, guidance and support for families who may be facing challenges at home, school or within the wider community. By working together with families and local agencies, these services can help with a range of needs, including attendance, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, parenting support, housing, finances and family relationships. Early support can make a positive difference, helping children and families access the right help at the right time before difficulties become more complex. If you feel your family could benefit from additional support, please speak to a member of our school team, who will be happy to discuss the options available and help make any necessary referrals.
