Art

Friday 21st April 2023

This week we have learnt what La Tene style art is and what it looked like.  We have also learnt to manipulate and join clay using the score and scratch technique.  This was a little tricky but we soon got that hang of it and had some great discussions as to how to improve and what to change for when we make our final piece.

Wednesday 8th March 2023

Today we experimented drawing with charcoal. We drew different lines, thought about what happened when we pressed on harder and what it looked like when we used the side of the charcoal. We then practised drawing different animals that we have seen on rock art from the Stone Age in preparation for our final piece of artwork.

Monday 6th. Arch 2023

We explored rock art from the Stone Age period. We discussed the materials used to create this art. We now know in the Stone Age to Iron Age period there were engravings, human and animal designs.

Monday 17th October.

After building up our knowledge and skills, we decided the best way to complete our final piece for the unit was to apply colour in a block.  We mixed our own colours, created our own repeated patterns to draw a self portrait of us as an Egyptian Pharaoh.

Friday 7th October 2022.

In art we have been discussing the big question of ‘How we can apply colour with paint?’ We already knew about pointillism but we hadn’t heard of splashing, the technique used by Jackson Pollock. Today we had a go at using this technique.

Monday 26th September 2022

Today we have learnt all about primary and secondary colours.  We now know that we mix 2 primary colours together to make a secondary colour and on a colour wheel, the secondary colours go in between each primary colour.  We mixed our own colours to make a colour wheel.
