Vesak Festival

Still image for this video
Today we learned about the Buddhist festival of Vesak and why it is an important time for Buddhists. It is a time of the year when Buddhist temples sport a beautiful display of lights, it is also the time when Buddhists spend the whole sacred day at temples meditating, chanting prayers and offering alms to Buddhist monks.
We tried meditation and contemplation. The children enjoyed the experience and gained an understanding of meditation.

Picture News~Forgiveness Class Worship 24/2/22

Our Gospel Value this half term is, “Forgiveness.”

Every week we look at current news stories that are linked to our Gospel Values. The focus this week was, ‘Should we always forgive.’ We discussed the children’s views about whether the Prime Minister should be forgiven for the parties that were held in Downing Street during lockdown. The children had some very interesting views. We then looked at ways to say sorry in different languages.

School Council Reps - Class Worship 23/11/21

Today, our Year 5 Council Reps delivered a presentation to our Reception class.  We had a lovely discussion on how we can look after God's Earth through recycling, saving water, planting seeds and much much more! They also chose Reception's new recycling monitors!smiley

Buddy Time with Year 1

Year 1 and Year 5 have been working with their buddies to gain confidence and resilience in communication with others outside of their class. This week, after they read to each other, they thought about Remembrance Day. The Y5 children taught the Y1 children what they know about the importance of this day. We then reflected on this while we coloured in our poppy wreath and wrote a prayer to thank all the soldiers.
