Dodgeball!

Dodgeball fun!

For the last few weeks of of the PE primary curriculum we have allowed the children to demonstrate the skills that they have learnt in a range of sports. This week we played dodgeball and the progression since the beginning of the year was fantastic! The children have developed accuracy, tactics, team work and sportsmanship skills! Great work Y6

Practice Sports Day

Year 6 worked incredibly hard to plan and organise a mock sports day for the rest of the school. Each pupil was responsible for modelling their station to a group and then ensuring that play was fair. Year six, you were fab! Well done. Mr D

Year 6 Dance

This half term we have an amazing dance teacher with us. This is providing year 6 with a broad range of skills and allowing different pupils to succeed in physical activity. We are building up to perform a dance at our leavers assembly, along the way we are acquiring knowledge from other dances and building our own piece. Good luck Y6.

Athletics

In summer term 2 Year 6 are working hard in Athletics. This week we looked at running and throwing. The children were given opportunities to run a range of distances and they quickly realised that each require a different skill set. We discussed some tricky concepts of pace, stamina and techniques to help us develop our confidence in running.

Cricket lessons

All chided in Year Six are being provided with a range of sports and skills throughout the year. This half term we will be looking at Batting and Fielding. Today we looked at the skill of bowling in cricket. This was tricky but this is part of developing resilience in sport. By the end of the lesson the majority of the class could deliver an over arm bowl.

PE- Autumn Term 2

This half term we will be providing the children with the opportunity to acquire the skills to play Tag Rugby. We will also spend time learning about the sport and how it can be played at a high standard. We have chosen Tag Rugby this half term as our Inspirational speaker, George, was a former South African Rugby player and we hope to inspire our class to look for a range of different sports. Watch this space for photos of them live in action!
